Caleb’s interest in color grading is rooted in necessity. When working on some of the early Benshi films, the cinematography and editing were there, but none of us knew how to color and we certainly couldn’t afford to hire someone.
From that, Caleb took it by trial and error. Combining his education in color theory from university, with his resourcefulness in learning the technicalities, Caleb has developed an authentic eye for bringing the vibrant soul to any project.
As a colorist, it’s Caleb’s mission to listen to the Directors, DPs, and artists to hone into the core voice of every project. By listening and developing a close relationship with them, he translates that soul into the color.
Caleb’s work has wide diversity, ranging from music videos, narrative shorts, documentaries, and action sports films. Caleb has colored films that have been selected to festivals such as Banff Mountain Film Festival, Mountain Film Festival, Rome Independent Film Festival, New York Movie Awards, New York International Film Awards, and more. Caleb has colored films that have received four Vimeo Staff Picks.
